What, Who, When ? - Hotel Notel
What : Hotel Notel is a collaborative art project embracing sexuality as creative human language. Hotel Notel takes inspiration from the fetish world, & through hospitality & artistry creates a glamorous nightlife world deconstructing shame.
Who : Hotel Notel began in the world of Burning Man. Our Hotelier & veteran burner Pinkie was inspired by theme camps. Taking twenty years of experience in nightlife & lifestyle events, Pinkie created the Hotel & something entirely new. Pinkie brought in his partner, Angel, artist with a decade in the fetish world, to help with the creative direction of the Hotel & give it glamour. They debuted the Hotel at their home regional burn - Interfuse 2024 - with the help of their friends, including a fabulous goth lifestyle DJ Sarah, who has been to every Hotel event, & the incredible shibari artist & longtime burner OZ, who helped the Hotel get on it's feet. A year later, another veteran burner - Leo - joined the hotel family. This hardworking Viking King becoming co-lead & the backbone of Hotel Notel. Now, two years & 9 burns later, our Hotel family has grown to include some of the most incredible artists & unique individuals we couldn't be more grateful to have met.
When : Hotel Notel operates 24hrs 365 days a year - in spirit. We are available to bring our art wherever it can inspire & create community. Reach out to learn more. Our three main regional burns are LoveBurn in February, Interfuse in May, & Lakes of Fire in July. We also help host our regional burns fundraiser - Ignition - in January. All year long our artists are working different events, & often Hotel Notel's leads will throw fundraisers, festivals, takeovers & house parties we would love to see all of you attend! Can I join?
You can always find a room at Hotel Notel! We welcome artists, performers, the experienced & the curious into our spaces & events. We are a space to learn & to support. Contact Us to join us as a camper or to collaborate with Hotel Notel on events, art & fundraisers.
What are the Rules?
Hotel Notel is Hospitality first - we welcome all & are a space open for education & growth. Campers are asked to collaborate & interact with the Hotel where it brings it will them joy. Guests are encouraged to enjoy their stay, supported by our campers, leads, & our incredible resources.
Playing in our Hotel Notel Dungeon : Dungeon rules are posted at the entrance of the Hotel, in Hotel lobby, & inside of the Hotel dungeon. Our rules encourage guests to give all scenes & play a respectful amount of space, for all guests to refrain from taking photos (without the presence of a DM or Hotel Night Manager) & for voyeurs to remain outside of the dungeon space in designated areas to keep dungeon equipment open to active scenes. The rules also remind guests of consent aware play etiquette.
DMs & Dungeon Safety : DMs are often available in our dungeon during open play hours. They are identified by glowing red vests & are here to help go over dungeon rules, provide demos, & provide positive guest experiences. Our dungeon is designed to be welcoming, high energy, & inviting for all - it is a space that relies on the values of Civic Responsibility, Communal Effort & Radical Self Reliance to work. It's important to note that at the Hotel, DMs are NOT relied upon for dungeon safety. When DMs are active, they can be a first point of contact to help individuals get to Camp Leads, Rangers, Medics, or Sanctuary. If no DM is in our dungeon - please locate any hotel camper, likely found at the hotel bar, kitchen or backstage. They can get you to our Hotel Night Managers - capable of addressing any dungeon or hotel related issues.
What are your camper expectations?
Campers are asked to collaborate & interact with the Hotel where it brings it will them joy. Take on roles in the Hotel you are passionate about, or collaborate with us to create new ones! We are here to support the art & authentic expression of our friends that help us share such & create incredible memories & moments of community.
Camp Dues : To help us support you & bring events to life, we ask campers for dues to help the Hotel keep running. Dues vary by event as costs & resources change with event location & demands. Our spending is 100% transparent & our budget for each event is laid out in our Camper Spreadsheet. We welcome collaboration & critique of the Hotel Notel budget & spending. Dues typically cover gas, propane, maintenance, & our fabulous meal plan! Dues do not cover Hotel expansion, art, decor or infrastructure. Most Hotel costs are out of pocket & funded by a combination of art grants, fundraisers, & the generosity hard work & donations of those most invested in the Hotels mission.
Camp Meetings : Camp meetings are hosted on Zoom every two weeks leading up to any Hotel Notel event. Zoom links will be posted on the Camp Discord the day of the meeting. These meetings allow us to prep, collaborate, & plan. They are opportunities for campers to ask questions, propose new ideas, & source resources for a successful burn for all! Attending all camp meetings is (of course) recommended but not mandatory. We would love to see our campers in at least one Zoom meeting pre-event, & would LOVE to see all event campers at the final meeting before an event to ensure everyone camping with the Hotel has what they need & is prepared to have an incredible stay with us!
Camp Work Days : Before any event - build days & packing days will be hosted at the Hotel Notel home base in Kansas City. Campers are not required to attend but are welcome. Our space is open to our friends & fellow artists for collaboration & support on their projects as well as the overall Hotel Notel projects. We host on a property that allows us to spread out & get creative. Contact Us to plan a work day!
Camp Volunteer Shifts : Hotel Notel has many working parts that bring it to life.
General Campers - Any camper only attending an event from gate open to gate close. All campers are asked to donate two hours of time during the event & two more hours at the end of the event to help with camp breakdown during event exodus. A two hour Hotel Notel event roles could be a shift DMing, bartending, DJing, assisting room service with decorating the hotel & dungeon, assisting kitchen team with cleaning or cooking.
Build Team & WAPS - Hotel Notel is able to provide a limited amount of WAPs to our build team. Build team will be campers available to join our main leads at event locations early to help with setup. Build team is open to all & can be broken down into infrastructure, decor, or more to allow all to contribute with the Hotel build how they can. We always try to honor & support our build team - & as of 2026 will have extra swag & resources to thank those who come early & work hard & arrive early to help create the Hotel!
Event Leads - Any camper may take on an Event Lead role with Hotel Notel & become a Hotel Notel Saint. These are special positions that give you creative control over areas of the Hotel such as Hotel Sound, Production & Performances, or Kitchen & Meal Plans. There are currently many of roles available & we are open to the creation of new lead roles with the Hotel to allow our most creative campers to shine (see leads page here). As of 2026, Hotel Notel wants to honor the campers that take on extra roles for the hotel. On top of whatever extra support & benefits we can provide our leads, we want to present every event lead with their own personal wax play saint candle & saint spot on our Hotel Notel wax play alter.
Flapjacks & Flogging - Regardless of if you're a general camper, part of build team, or an event lead, Flapjacks & Flogging is our one all hands on deck camp event that we want every hotel camper to be a part of! We have many stations during this continental breakfast extravaganza for you to be a part of & we always welcome the creation of new stations so every camper can express themselves and HAVE FUN! Is your camp family-friendly?
Hotel Notel is an 18+ Only Space at every event. You will often find Hotel Notel in the "red light district" of regional burns - this is a specific street or area of the event NOT open to children or anyone under the age of 18. Our Hotel Notel campers & leads are all in the loop about keeping our spaces 18+ only - However, we do rely on Civic Responsibility of guests & the Personal Responsibility of Parents at events.
Concerns? - Our Hotel Notel creator & lead, Pinkie, is the Red Light Zhar of his home burn, Interfuse, & is always striving to collaborate with the community on consent, safety, & the needs or concerns of families attending events where Hotel Notel is present. We care about all burners & we welcome discussions about family safety. Many of our campers are parents caregivers & professionals outside of the art they bring with the Hotel.
